Menuboard Design

Boost Sales in Today's Economy with Enhanced Menuboards

Given today's weak economy, it's reassuring to know that there is a goldmine waiting to be harvested in QSR's and Fast-Casual restaurants - the golden nuggets can be found in "menuboard enhancement". Time and time again King-Casey has seen its well-engineered menuboard enhancement strategies generate fabulous returns on investment for its clients. We routinely see sales increases of 5-10% or more as the result of implementing an enhanced menuboad strategy.

In a recent discussion with the Chairman of a QSR chain, he commented, "Menuboard enhancement is one of the best investments my company can make. In fact", he went on to say, "the return on investment far exceeds almost any other strategy I could pursue to increase profits".

The Reward Comes With a Modest Investment

Menuboard enhancement can be accomplished for less than it costs to produce one television commercial, and the ROI is stunning! There is typically a three-phase investment:

  1. Assessment.
You will need to invest in an in-depth and thoughtful assessment of your current menuboards to discover opportunities for improvement. How do customers use the menuboards? What problems are they having with the menuboards? The analysis should include an in-depth sales analysis of menu items. Which are selling? Which are not? Which are most profitable? Are your most profitable items "presented" in a way that encourages sales? Is the menuboard easy to navigate and understand?
  2. Re-Design.
You will need to invest in developing an enhanced menuboard design driven by the findings of the diagnosis. The new design should enhance desirable sales and improve customer ease-of-use. New designs need not require new menuboard hardware. By all means keep the hardware you've got. Redesign the panels themselves to cost-effectively solve problems and drive sales.
  3. Implementation.
You will need to invest in the printing of the enhanced menuboard panels for all your restaurant locations.

Why Some Menuboard Strategies Fail

High Design, Weak Strategy. When it comes to identifying a firm to help you with menuboard enhancement, note that not all solution providers are created equal. Far too often companies are drawn to cost-attractive menuboard redesigns provided by those who fabricate the boards. Or companies might engage the services of well-meaning design firms whose primary focus is on high design which does not necessarily generate increased sales and profits. Effective menuboard design is driven by effective business analysis, strategy and sound execution.
