The Situation

The US Open is the crown jewel of the United States Tennis Association, bringing $300 million into the economy of the New York area. A critical contributor is the merchandising of licensed apparel to the 600,000 fans that attend the US Open. The USTA's objective: increase retail sales and branding recognition at the event.

The Solution

The USTA tapped King-Casey to improve the visual merchandising and fan appeal of its licensed apparel. King-Casey developed a comprehensive new merchandising concept for retail stores at the 2003 and 2004 US Open, including new logo and new store design. King-Casey handled this high-visibility project on a turnkey basis from strategy and concept, through sourcing, costing and installations.

The Results

King-Casey's solutions helped serve up a concept that visually captures the spirit of the event, while meeting the strict operational needs of rapid sales turns and customer through-put. The USTA plans on converting additional locations using King-Casey's design. All in all, a grand slam for the US Open!
