USPS  Postmark America

The Situation

With over 40,000 post office locations, the United States Postal Service is regarded as the largest “retail” entity in the world. In order to hold down the price of stamps, the USPS needed to find new sources of revenue. They came to King-Casey for help.

The Solution

King-Casey recommended developing a prototype retail store at the Mall of America, one of the most heavily trafficked malls in the United States. We created “Postmark America”, an exciting retail concept that built on the Postal Service heritage to provide an entertaining and educational venue. Merchandise includes apparel and a wide variety of gift items designed to appeal to children, adults and stamp collectors of all ages. Fixtures and displays are based on actual postal artifacts, while video walls provide postal history designed to provide fun and learning.

The Results

Postmark America has expanded retail sales for the USPS way beyond stamps and packaging materials. The highly successful store has allowed the USPS to test new product ideas before introducing them into their network of 40,000 post offices. Postmark America has also established an extremely positive, upbeat brand image for the US Postal Service.
